Welcome to SavetheCannon.com! This website is dedicated to one of the proudest and loudest traditions at UC Berkeley - the CALIFORNIA VICTORY CANNON!

Donated to the University of California by the class of 1964, the California Victory Cannon made its first appearance in Memorial Stadium at the 1963 Big Game and has been a beloved symbol of California Spirit and Tradition ever since. Would California Football be the same without the thunder of the Victory Cannon?

After 30 years of wear and tear, the Tightwad Hill platform, from which the Victory Cannon fires, was in need of a major renovation project after the 2003 football season. Construction of a new platform began July 19, 2004, and will be completed in time for the first game of the 2004 football season.

To accomplish this lofty goal, the Rally Committee enlisted the support of students, alumni, fans, and all loyal Californians. Many such dedicated individuals generously provided funds, professional skills, time, and planning for this project.
