Director of Athletics

Steven Ilko

Year at Cal: 2nd

Year in the Committee: This will be my second year in the Committee and I am so excited for what's in store for the upcoming sport seasons! What I lack in experience I make up with enthusiasm!

Job Description:

It is my job to make sure that members know when sporting events are and I am the official caretaker of the Cal Flags. Additionally, I coordinate flag wavers for game days, rallies and the occasional wedding or two. I am here to make memorable experiences for our members by getting them down on the field to wave the Cal Flags for our Golden Bears!

Brief Biography:

I am a San Diego native (Scripps Ranch area) and I am interested in playing and watching tons of sports (football, baseball, tennis, basketball, ultimate, soccer) and I am always down for a pickup game, even if I suck. I am an intended Molecular and Cell Biology major with an interest in going into medicine. As of the end of this summer I will be a certified EMT and can help you out when you get hurt. :)

Favorite Rally Committee moment?

My very first run out, the opposing team came onto the field as I was running across the field. Two awesome things happened. 1) I almost mowed down Paul Wulff (Wazzu's Head Coach) as he came out onto the field and he swore at me. 2) I was waving the Cal Flag in a mass of Washington St. players demoralizing them, as we later crushed them on the field, 7-30.

Why did you decide to be a part of the Executive Committiee?

After meeting so many really cool peole over the last year, I knew that I had to be a part of the Executive Committee so that I can make others have a just as awesome, if not awesomer, year! Also, ever since waving the Cal Flags at CAlSO and Welcome Week, I knew that I knew that I wanted to be the one to be in charge of the Cal Flags, because let's face it, THERY'RE EPIC.

Celebrity crush?

Emma Stone

If you could claim credit for one invention, what would it be?

The Large Hardon Collider so I could next claim credit for discovering the Higgs Boson particle. Either that, or the zipper...WE would be nowhere if it weren't for the zipper.

Would you rather have the ability to fly or to be invisible?

The answer is obvious...Could you imagine flying out with the flags?!?

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

Steve Carell. He plays awkward so well, and he's hilarious.

If you had a time machine, where would you go?

November 20, 1982: Memorial Stadium, middle of the student section. Watching Big Game '82 would be EPIC!

What would you rather be doing instead of filling out this survey?

Learning the art of underwater basket weaving.
