Homecoming Week
-
Homecoming Week is traditionally the time when the
University welcomes back alumni. UC Berkeley's Homecoming was revived in 2002 and expanded in 2003. The Rally Committee and Student Homecoming
Team coordinate week-long activities celebrating the campus and our distinguished history. The Homecoming Game
is almost always held in October against a Southern California school (UCLA or USC).
Colloquium
The annual Colloquium is a talk given by one or several distinguished guests invited by the Committee. Topic range from Berkeley history, to an in-depth explanation of University traditions, to a pep talk for the game later that week, to anything Blue and Gold. This event was started as a way to intellectually engage students and encourage them to appreciate yet another facet of their University. Past speakers include Nobel Laureates, Cal icons, and historic leaders. Homecoming Rally
Normally held in Haas Pavilion the day before the Homecoming game, the Homecoming Rally is one of the Rally Committees largest events. Meant to pump up visiting family and alumni, as well as students, the Rally begins even before the doors open with an outdoor BBQ. Inside, the audience will be treated to performances from talented student acts such as Men's Octet, the Golden Overtones, the Cal Tae Kwon Do team, and dance troupes. Distinguished alumni may show up as a special treat, ready to energize everyone for the next day's game. UCRC Alumni Homecoming Reception
Rally Committee alumni gather to reminisce, mingle, and eat at this event put on by the current Committee members. The Alumni Homecoming Reception attracts alumni of all ages and is held the day of the Homecoming game. The Secretary serves as liaison between Committee members past and present, helping to create a bridge between student and alumni. The Reception is held in historic Senior Hall. And much, much more!
